Video Tool Watermark Export: Paid Plan, Still a Logo?

Video tool watermark export on a paid plan? Six causes put the logo back, and a checklist to get a clean file from the original project.

Short answer: if a video tool watermark export still shows a logo after you paid, the most common cause is that the file was exported before your plan was active. Watermarks are burned into the video at the moment of export, so upgrading does not change a file you already have. Open the original project and export it again. If that does not work, check that you are in the paid workspace or account, that your payment actually went through, and that you are downloading the final export rather than a preview. AI generators add one more layer: some marks are controlled by a separate setting, and invisible marks are not removed by any plan.

The pages that rank for this problem are almost all single-vendor help articles, each explaining one tool. The causes turn out to be nearly identical across tools, so this article puts them into one checklist you can run against whatever editor or generator you use.

The one principle behind every video tool watermark export problem

Everything else follows from this: the watermark is decided when the file is rendered, not when you look at it.

VEED's help center states it directly: "The watermark is hardcoded into the video file during the export process." That page was last updated August 21, 2026, and read on September 25, 2026. Kapwing's watermark policy, updated May 21, 2026, describes the same model from the other side: "Free plan users who upgrade to Kapwing Pro can remove all watermarks from previously created projects by re-exporting them."

Two practical consequences:

  1. A watermarked file is finished. There is no switch that cleans it after the fact. The logo is part of the picture now.
  2. The project is the real asset, not the exported file. As long as the original project exists inside the tool, a clean export is one click away once your plan is active. If you delete the project and keep only the watermarked file, the clean version is gone.

Six causes, in the order to check them

What you see Likely cause What to do
Old exports still have the logo Exported before the plan was active Re-export from the original project
New exports have the logo too Working in a free workspace or a different account Switch to the paid workspace and export again
Logo came back after weeks without it Payment failed and the account reverted Check billing, fix payment, re-export
Logo shows while editing You are looking at a preview Run the actual export
Re-exported, logo still there You re-uploaded the watermarked file as your source Go back to the original project
Mark on AI-generated clips only The generator applies its own mark Check the generator's own watermark setting

1. You exported before the plan was active

This is the cause every vendor lists first. VEED's page says: "Once you have subscribed to a paid plan, projects you exported before subscribing will still have the watermark on them." InVideo's help center, read on September 25, 2026, says the same: "Projects exported before subscribing to a paid plan will still contain watermarks," and the fix is to "re-export the original project after subscribing to a paid plan."

The fix is always the same. Open the project, not the file, and export again.

2. You are in the wrong workspace or account

Many tools attach a plan to a workspace or team, not to you as a person. VEED lists this as a separate cause: you may be logged into a free workspace instead of the upgraded one. The same problem happens when you have two logins, for example one created with an email and one through a Google or Apple sign-in, and you paid on one while editing in the other.

Check the workspace or account name shown in the tool before you export, and confirm it displays your paid plan, not "Free."

3. Your payment failed

If the logo disappears for a while and then comes back, look at billing. VEED notes that a failed subscription payment temporarily reverts you to the free plan. Exports made during that window carry the watermark, even though exports made before it did not. Fix the payment, then re-export anything made during the gap.

4. You are looking at a preview, not an export

Some tools show watermarks while you edit even on a paid plan. InVideo's help center says "By default, watermarks are visible on the preview page," and that these are "removed when you export the video." If the only place you see the mark is the editor or a preview link, run the full export before assuming something is wrong.

5. You re-uploaded the watermarked file

A common, understandable mistake: you upgrade, upload your old exported video into a new project, export it, and the logo is still there. It will be, because the logo is now part of the footage you uploaded. VEED warns that re-uploading a previously watermarked video will not remove the watermark. Only the original project, or your original raw footage, produces a clean result.

6. The mark comes from an AI generator, not the editor

If you generate clips in one tool and edit in another, paying for the editor does nothing about marks the generator added. Each tool controls its own. Google's Gemini Apps Help, read on September 25, 2026, describes a Media watermark setting that "controls visible watermarks across all visual media you create with Gemini, including images, videos, and music." The same page says that in India, South Korea or Vietnam, "you'll only see this setting if you have an AI Ultra subscription," and that the setting applies "only to Gemini Apps (web and mobile), not AI features in other Google products."

So for AI clips, check the generator's own settings and plan terms, not your editor's.

What no paid plan removes

Visible logos are only part of the picture. Many AI video tools also embed marks you cannot see.

The Gemini Apps Help page on watermark settings is explicit: "This setting only controls the visible watermark. It doesn't affect SynthID watermarks or Content Credentials for media you create with Gemini Apps." SynthID is Google's invisible watermark, and Content Credentials are provenance information attached to the file.

This matters for two reasons.

First, a clean-looking export is not an unmarked file. Paying removes the logo a viewer sees. It does not necessarily remove signals that identify a clip as AI-generated.

Second, platform disclosure rules still apply. Whether or not a logo is visible, platforms have their own rules about realistic AI content. Read how YouTube's synthetic content disclosure works and how TikTok and Instagram label AI content before you publish generated footage. A missing logo does not change what those rules ask of you.

Before you pay: check what the plan actually removes

Not every paid tier in every tool is guaranteed to remove every mark. Before upgrading for this reason:

  • Read the vendor's own pricing or plan comparison page for the words "watermark" or "branding," and note the date you checked. Plan features in this category change often.
  • Check whether removal applies to exports, generations or both. An editor's plan covers its exports. A generator's plan covers its generations.
  • Check where the plan lives: your personal account, a workspace or a team.
  • Keep your original projects until you have a clean export you are happy with.

We deliberately do not list which plan removes which watermark in which tool. Those details move too often to print, and a wrong one would cost you money. The vendor's current pricing page is the only reliable source.

Why not just use a watermark remover?

Third-party removal tools usually crop, blur or paint over the corner of the frame. At best you lose part of your picture. They also do nothing about invisible marks or provenance data, as the Gemini help page above makes clear about its own marks. And a tool's terms may restrict what you can do with its output. The clean route is the vendor's own export on an active plan, from the original project.

A 60-second checklist

  1. Is my plan active right now, and did the last payment succeed?
  2. Am I in the workspace or account that holds the plan?
  3. Am I exporting from the original project, not a re-uploaded file?
  4. Am I downloading the final export, not a preview?
  5. If the clip is AI-generated, have I checked the generator's own watermark setting?
  6. If all five are yes and the logo remains, contact the vendor's support with your account email and the project name.

FAQ

Why does my video still have a watermark after I upgraded?

Most likely it was exported before the upgrade. Watermarks are burned in at export, so an existing file does not change. VEED, InVideo and Kapwing all say to re-export the original project after the paid plan is active.

Can I remove a watermark from a video I already exported?

Not through the tool that added it. The logo is part of the image once exported. Re-export from the original project instead. If you deleted the project, you would need to rebuild it from your raw footage.

Does a paid plan remove AI watermarks completely?

Not necessarily. Google's Gemini Apps Help, read on September 25, 2026, says its Media watermark setting only controls the visible watermark and does not affect SynthID watermarks or Content Credentials.

Why is there a watermark in the editor preview on my paid plan?

Some tools show marks in previews regardless of plan. InVideo's help center says preview watermarks are removed when you export. Run a full export before contacting support.

Do I need to tell viewers my video is AI-generated if there is no watermark?

The watermark and the platform's disclosure rules are separate questions. Check the disclosure rules of the platform you publish on, whether or not a logo is visible.
